| The CASI board provides an integrated camera and mass storage interface. The board delivers 512Mbytes of SDRAM for mass storage, 2 LVDS Multiplexed De-serializer for high-speed LVDS interfaces, 4 LVDS differential inputs, 4 LVDS differential outputs, 4 RS422 differential inputs, and 4 RS422 differential outputs.
The I/O devices chosen are radiation hardened and fault tolerant making the CASI a robust I/O connection.

The I/O functions can be configured on a mission basis by reprogramming the XILINX FPGAs on the ground or during flight via the host CPU or an external programming interface.
The board utilizes the radiation hardened Actel RT54SX72S FPGA for its 32-bit 33MHz PCI target and PCI DMA controller interface, SDRAM controller, and Xilinx scrubber. This provides a flight proven interface to the PCI bus and critical functions required to maintain the health of the XILINX FPGA, such as periodic scrubbing of the XILINX configuration. |

The radiation tolerant Xilinx Virtex XQVR600 FPGA contains the controllers for the high speed and differential interfaces. The CASI card can be tailored to a variety of mission requirements without the need for board changes. In addition, custom user provided logic may be implemented in the large XILINX FPGA.
